Entering Events
Each event offering online registration has a registration open date.
The event remains open for registration until the registration close date.
You may only enter an event between the registration open and close date.
When you enter an event, you are assigned a confirmation number.
Your confirmation number is emailed to you.
Please mention the confirmation number if you need to contact the event coordinator or registrar.
If you do not get your confirmation number by email, contact the event registrar.
Information from your personal profile is used to pre-fill fields on your event registration form.
Filling out the optional sections in your personal profile will speed up the registration process.
Chapter Membership
Some of our events require membership in the Boston Chapter.
Entry into these events is a benefit of membership.
In order to be recognized as a member of the Boston Chapter, you must enter your first name, last name, and memberhip number
EXACTLY as shown on your membership card or newsletter label.
Entered and Accepted Status
After you enter an event, your registration is placed into entered status.
Some events (driving events in particular) require that you be accepted into the event.
Acceptance into an event is done by the event registrar or the event coordinator.
If you aren't accepted into an event, it is probably because the event is full or you aren't eligible to participate in the event.
The status of all of your online registrations can be seen on the event registration page.
Cancel or Hold Registration
Most events allow you to cancel your registration, as long as registration is still open.
A cancelled registration is removed from the system.
After you cancel your registration, you may be able to enter the event at a later time (until the registration close date).
Event Payment
Many social events are free, and all you have to do is register.
Other events require that you register first and pay when you arrive at the event.
Most events require payment in advance.
Payment is done by check or using PayPal.
Events that require PayPal for payments include Autocross,
where payment is required before each event in the series.
Once you are accepted into the event, a PayPal request for payment email is sent to you to request payment several days before the event date.
You usually have one week to pay for your event.
If you do not pay for your event, your registration may be cancelled by the registrar.
You cannot pay by check if the event is requesting payment using PayPal.
Driving Schools are handled slighly differently. As soon as you apply, you may pay for the event using PayPal. In order to hold
your spot, Payment must be made witin 3 days of your registration date - otherwise, your registration date is the day that you
pay using PayPal.
New for 2004:
The PayPal system now allows you to pay by credit card (without creating a PayPal account).
You may also use your existing PayPal account or create a new PayPal account.
Registration Details
Each event has its own policies on event payment, multiple registrations, and locked status.
These details are explained on each event's information pages, located in the events section of this web site.
This is a quick summary for the registration system procedure for popular events.
-
Autocross:
An event series for Verified members of the BMW CCA and the Boston Chapter only.
One car number and class is assigned per car/class/driver combination.
If there is room, the registrar marks the registration as accepted, assigns a car number and class, and locks the registration.
Any change in car configuration that bumps the car to another class will require a new registration, and a new car and class assignment.
Each registration is for one Autocross event.
Payments are made via PayPal, must be paid 7 days prior to event.
-
Concours:
One entry per car.
Payment is by check, mailed to the event registrar.
-
Driving Schools:
Each entry is validated by the event registrar.
Driving Schools allow only one entry per driver, but the driver may register for multiple days.
Payment must be made using PayPal, within 3 days of event registration.
-
Ice Racing:
An event series for which one Car Number and Class designation is assigned for each driver/vehicle/tire combination.
Each entry is assigned a Car Number and a Class designation and then is locked. That Pre-Registration remains valid for
the entire season. Updating any of the information requires contacting the Registrar. Changing the driver, car, or tires
generally requires completing a new Pre-Registration and receiving a new Car Number and Class assignment. Payments for
each Ice Race are made at the event.
-
Social Events:
Social Events are intended for BMW CCA members and their families.
Many social events require preregistration.
Each registration must specify the number of people attending the event.
Some of the Social Events requires prepayment, others are free.
Please cancel your registration if you aren't attending the Social Event.
-
Tech Sessions:
Some of our Tech Sessions require preregistration.
Each Tech Session registration is for one person.
All Tech Sessions are free.
Please cancel your registration if you aren't attending the Tech Session.
Each event has different registration requirements.
Please contact the event's coordinator or registrar if you need further help.
