Hello all,

I just picked up a 2007 335i coupe last week and have been loving every mile since then. Does anyone have any advice in regards to performance upgrades, preferred BMW mechanics/shops, etc? I'm looking to bump up her performance (the JB3 chip has me particularly interested). I'd also like to replace the run flats with some normal tires. I live in Revere (see: potholes) and the run flats are killing me.

Anyway, just wanted to gather some information from the experts before I even think of touching her.

P.S. She is still under warranty for another 10K miles.

Thanks in advance,

Matt G.

You can search or read through the forums for recommendations for independent mechanics specializing in BMW's.

I would suggest that you invest in a winter tire/wheel package. You might try the Tire Rack or Rim and Wheelworks in Waltham or RimPro. You can also try the classified on this board, although I'm not sure what will fit your car. Ideally you'd like to go down a size and mount the narrowest snow tire you can find. I'm a big fan of the Nokian Hakkapelitta snow tires, although other brands such as Blizzaks are popular as well.

There are other chapter members who have chipped their 335's, so hopefully one of them will comment.

Dan,

Thanks for the advice - much appreciated. Getting the start of nice 4-day snowstorm. Bummer. This winter couldn't end fast enough.

Thanks,

Hey Bob,

Thanks for the help. Where's your 335 located? I'd like to drop by and check her out, if it's alright with you.

Best,

Matt

Matt,

Not sure what you have done yet, but I would encourage you to check out Dinan.  They are running a sale.  BMW Norwood handles their stuff and will install it too.  I'm real happy with the S1 package on my 2009 335i xDrive, and most of the major components minus the suspension are covered by the sale.
