I'm looking at the x5 35d. I would be replacing a vehicle with a larger towing capacity, a locking center differential, and a low range. I need a vehicle that will get me through about anything you'd find on new england roads, including dirt roads, in all conditions. That includes the sides of those roads, some mud, and deep drifts. I have read that the X5 is not as off road capable as some alternatives. Is it all terrain capable enough? I am not looking to use it for serious off roading or rock climbing.
On the same sort of topic, I know it is rated to tow 6000 lbs, but will the x5 tow a real 5000 lb. load. I have learned from experience to view rated capacity on any car with some skepticism.
Thank you.

| x5 3.5d goes pretty well in NE weather, goes throught snow great, drive through a 2 ft snow bank no problem, doesn't get stuck either, as far as sand and mud, the run flats that came with the truck don't work so well in sand atleast since you can't let out he air, mud not so sure about, dirtroads, no problem at all including at 60mph it goes very nice. It's not a heavy duty SUV but it'll get you through what you need. Has alot of torque, last note, looks great in white!
