I ran them for two summers plus about 20 track days, much to the chagrin of several M3's that couldn't keep up with me in the corners....:Whistling:

I'm on r-compounds now though.....

/Andrew
RE: Tires for my 07 328xi

If you are looking for a good tire to use on the track but also perform well on the street (at least during the warmer months), check out the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1, and also the Kumho Ecsta MX. Both are solid performers when it comes to a street/track combination. Neither would be the best commuter tire, and they are definitely not all-season, but you will notice a major improvement in how well your car handles. They are both popular tires for HPDE events and are also relatively in-expensive. I have used both on my M3. I recently went with the Dunlops as I have heard so many good things about them in terms of track-worthiness. Definitely do what Mike suggested and read up about them on Tire Rack. You will also find more expensive options there but from what I have heard, the Dunlop seems to be the "in" track-oriented street tire these days.

RE: Tires for my 07 328xi

Sorry for the late reply.

I attended the driving school yesterday at NHMS (first time on a track ever), and that helped me think more about what kind of tires I want.
I went in with the car totally stock, conti run-flats.

I don't want to run with those tires again because I'd rather keep them for everyday driving. What I want in a tire is performance in the dry and low wear. I realize those two might be inversely proportional?
I basically want a new set that I would only put on for any kind of track event.

Any suggestions? I'll check out tirerack.com as well.

Thanks,
Ehsun

RE: Tires for my 07 328xi

Let's see. Are you looking for summer or all season tire? What's important to you in a tire? Performance, wear, wet, dry, highway, autocross, noise, harshness? Tires are all round and black. That's about it. The rest depends on what you are looking for.

I'm sure if I name my two favorite (truly) performance tires most people are not going to like them for a daily driver.

RE: Tires for my 07 328xi
I generally like to stick w/ the name brands, Michelin at the top, Dunlop, Continental, Bridgestone, BFG in the middle. Kumho is also well established and makes a good tire at a good price. Go to tirerack.com and read the surveys and reviews. The surveys are usefull as they rank the tires based on ownership experience across a number of categories.

Good luck!;)

Tires for my 07 328xi

This is my first BMW and I'm looking to get a set of performance tires on it that I could also use for everyday commuting.

Does anyone have any advice as to which tires would be good?
