Things To Remember
- Make sure you have up to date event information from the website or from the
Bulletin.
- Bring lots of warm, windproof clothing, footwear, and gloves – the weather is
not the same up here!
- Shackett's Store is not always open, so it is HIGHLY advised that you bring water
and a lunch.
- Fill your fuel tank prior to arriving.
- Please have common courtesy and respect for the other Ice Racers, the event organizers,
the environment, and the area residents.
- Please take all of your trash with you when you leave and use the restroom facilities
provided.
- Please keep the Ledges Clubhouse clean.
- Please do not dump oil or any similar fluids.
- Please be on time for your work assignment.
- Please drive SLOWLY once you have finished your Run!
- Tune your radio to ICE 88.5 FM while at the event to listen in to station WBMW,
which broadcasts all of our Ice Races!
Ice Safety Rules
- Stay AT LEAST 50 FEET from shore in ALL AREAS except right at the entrance.
- Do not wander off on the ice – it may or may not be safe away from the event area.
- When parking, all cars should be at least 15 feet away from any other vehicles
when possible.
- Do not park within the area designated around the Timing Bobhouse.
- The ice is SLICK! Vehicles should not exceed 5 MPH in the parking area.
Walk cautiously.
Vehicle and Driver/Spectator Rules
- All drivers, passengers, and spectators must sign the insurance waiver form.
- Operational seatbelts are required and must be worn by all drivers and passengers.
- Drivers must possess a valid driver's license.
- Vehicles are not required to be registered or insured; however, we recommend both.
- All loose items must be removed from the car; you do not need to empty the vehicle
completely.
- Cars must not have any significant fluid leaks.
- Drivers and passengers under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a minor release
form.
- Passengers are allowed in any legal seating position with an operational seatbelt.
- Ballast is legal in the trunk (or equivalent) of all vehicles.
Worker Assignments
- All participants will be required to work for one Session during the day.
- Worker assignments will be posted on the Timing Bobhouse during the Drivers' Meeting.
- Please check to see when you work and meet the Chief of Course Operations at the
Timing Bobhouse before that Session begins.
- If you are assigned to work and do not show up, you WILL be penalized.
- If you need to leave the event early, please inform the Coordinator,
preferably at Registration.
Instructors
- A list of Instructors will be posted on the Timing Bobhouse.
- The Instructors will be parked within a designated area behind the Timing Bobhouse.
- PLEASE take advantage of these Instructors by asking them to ride with you or
by riding with them if you wish to learn!
- We also have many experienced Ice Racers who can help you find your way around
if you are at all unsure of the Course. Don't spend the day lost!
Run Groups
- Cars will be divided into two Run Groups.
- · One Run Group will consist of the RWD Division and the FWD Division
(Classes A, B, C, E, F, and G).
- The second Run Group will consist of the AWD Division (Classes X, Y, and Z).
- The Run Group for Classes S, SM, and M will be assigned at the event.
- There will normally be four Sessions during each event.
- The two Run Groups will alternate between Run and Work Sessions during the day.
- Run Groups will generally complete two Runs per Session. Our goal is to have four
Runs per event.
- Within each Session we will run by Class. Please do not lineup until your Class
is called.
- Please do not line up for a second Run until your Class is called for a second
Run.
- There will be two Staging Lines, one for single driver cars and one for multiple
driver cars.
- The multiple driver line is for cars that have another driver waiting to take
the same Run. The last driver for a multi-driver car should line up in the regular
Staging Line.
- Please understand that having a separate line for multiple driver cars greatly
speeds up the event, which means more Runs for everyone!
