Boston Chapter Board Meeting Minutes

Present Joe Marko, Bruce Augenstrin, Michael Cox, Fred deNapoli, Will Farnsworth, Mario Gilbert, Steve Hazard, Suzin Koehler, Dan Mull, Greg Scott, John Sullivan, Barry Tarr, Steve Goldstein, Ann Marie Weber, Brittany Weber, Denis Friedman and Aimee Reveno.
Motion to call to order.
1. Call to Order (Barry Tarr)
2. Secretary's Report (Will Farnsworth)
- No report. Handed out updated phone list.
3. Vice Presidents/Activities Report (Ann Marie Weber)
- Ice Racing - There is no ice yet.
- Kart League will start 2/4 and run through April.
- 2/20 is the first quarterly meeting scheduled at FMW. The M Brand manager will be our speaker for the evening.
- Open house is scheduled at the Dent Wizard this Sunday, 10:00 - 2:00. he may do a special rate for members.
- 3/16 is drivers school prep at HMS.
- Bob and Dery have scheduled the wine tasting for 4/20.
- Want to do a post card mailing because so many events are coming up. Identify important events to members. Make a motion to do a mailing to members through a post card to members. Motion seconded, voted, vote counted, and motion passed.
4. Treasurers Report (Bruce Augenstein)
- As of is morning, we have $28,000 in the bank. We don't owe anyone. We are going through the year end change over and changing software to same as National. We went through Pay-Pall, it works, everything ties out.
- Investments - We should consider investing some money for a rainy day. Invest it into a government fund, like a CD. They are at 3%. Fred diNapoli does this for a living - get his input.
5. Membership Report (Joe Marko)
- 95 new members. 3273 regular members. 4 lifetime members. 377 associate members for a total 3654 members.
- Joe will talk to Kevin Phillips as a speaker for the 2 Q meeting.
6. Bimmer Report (Arturo Gossage)
- No Arturo. Suzin is willing to take over chapter Newsletter. Barry will take responsibility of getting this back on track.
7. Driving Events Report (Fred deNapoli and Steve Hazard)
- Autocross will gross $21,000 for checks in April. We should net $11,000. Total gross for the year $50 -55,000 and total net of $20 - 25,000.
- Every two years we need a set of cones. We need 250 and another generator, wiring, fire extinguishers, safety stuff, tents, web proposal and banners. We have the ability to run 3 courses next year. We need $1,500 - $2,000 to do all of this. Make a motion to allocate $2,500 to replace items listed. Motion seconded, voted, vote counted, and motion passed.
- Greg - Website changes - Enhancements are for Autocross. People would have to create a profile, then changes can be made to the profile. Allow people to register for events they want to attend. Many benefits to new system. Easier to track billing. Can be used for other event sign up as well. Cost is $1,950.00. Motion to address Greg's proposal as laid out in email 1/30/02. Classifieds are going to run about $600.00. No way to tie to membership # for validation because not all events require you to be a member. Have Greg firm up estimate and do email vote.
- Discussion board - don't want to do now.
- Discussion regarding sponsorship of helmets, tents and number tags. Charge nominal fee to convey perceived value for number tags.
- Denis - Scheduled 2 day event at the Glen 8/21-22. $13,000 for two days to rent track. charge $270.00 for event. If get 60 people, we are covered. Open event to Boston and White Mountain.
8. New Business (Barry Tarr)
- News letter conference is in May.
- Reserve German Club for December Holiday Party.
