Call to Order (Joe Marko)
- Joe opened the meeting, and presented the minutes from the last meeting, which were accepted.
- Joe brought up the fact that BMW CCA National forms need to be completed by Joe, Justin, Will, Steve and Bruce. Each agreed to complete "their" forms.
Vice President's Report (Steve Goldstein)
- Steve passed out copies of the 2001 events schedule to all those present.
- Steve introduced our new Tech Session czar - Mario Giberti - welcomed by all.
- We currently do not have a home for the May 23rd quarterly meeting. Joe will contact F1 to see if they are interested.
- Steve is currently looking at setting up a "ramble" in May (meet for breakfast, drive interesting roads, have lunch, etc.)
- Steve will write a thank-you note to FMW for their hospitality during the February quarterly meeting.
Treasurer's Report (Bruce Augenstein)
- Bruce stated that the club has incurred a net loss for the year so far of $4307.48, but this is not indicative of a trend. We have had one-time expenses (credit card machine, etc.) and early event expenses (autocross deposit, etc.) not yet offset by income. He reiterated his position that we needed to have an effective advertising manager in order to offset rising Bimmer costs.
Membership Report (Barry Tarr)
- No current report because of the national move. No new-member report for the Bimmer.
Bimmer/Website Update (Justin Hughes, and Justin for Greg Scott)
- The March Bimmer went out in mid February - not without difficulties. Some ads didn't make it into the issue, but the driving school info went out!
- The April issue is now being laid out and is under control.
- Greg Scott will do the May issue during Justin's move.
- Joe suggested an editorial/events calendar so that everyone can plan to get information in on time.
- Justin will fill in Steve's event calendar for Bimmer deadlines, and Steve will send out the calendar each month to all committee members.
- Justin indicated that we will need to pay Alexandra Rowe $500 each month for the Bimmer layout duties. The board approved.
- Web Report: The e-list problems on Yahoo were addressed through Greg's acquisition of software running on his server.
- Event Registration forms complete and running on the site.
- Events database now on the site.
- The White Mountain chapter has asked Greg to combine future autocross events. Joe will call Dan Juliani to address this issue.
Driver's Events Report (Joe Marko, Fred Denapoli, Mike Cox)
- We have had record turnouts for ice racing events.
- Fred presented the 2001 autocross budget. The board revised and approved.
- Mike Cox reported that the information for the April safety school made it into the Bimmer, and that he has six additional dates scheduled for the rest of the year.
- Denis reported that we had 120 applications for the Lime Rock school, and 140 for the NHIS school. He also mentioned the May 26 -27 Sanair event, run separately. All in all, our chapter is offering ten track days during 2001.
- He suggested that we may no longer have a need to put applications in the Bimmer for driving school events - just advertise the events and offer web applications.
- There will be a May 5th and 6th SCCA race event at NHIS. Nearly 20 applications have been sent in by Boston Chapter members.
- We will likely have a club race during O'fest.
- Joe reported that National has accepted our proposal for running the O'fest club race, race school, driving school and autocross.
Karting Report (Vassillis Kontoglis)
- Vassillis reported that the new season begins on March 25th, and that there will be trophy presentations at the event.
Concours Report (Dan Mull)
- Dan reported that there will be three key dates for 2001.
- June 17th - German Car Day
- June 24th - Boston Chapter
- September 23rd - Castle Hill
New Business (Joe Marko)
- The Joe asked for volunteers to assist National in packing up for their move - Sunday, March 25th, from around 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Several people volunteered.
- Fred proposed that we give a driving school or autocross discount certificate to new members. Fred and Barry will work on a proposal for our next meeting in May.
