Take A Break

by Maria Anggraeni

For those of you wanting to take a break from your taxes, join us! Take your mind off the day-to-day activities and get involved with the club. Our Chapter is growing stronger and bigger. This is a great time to get involved because we want to make the Boston Chapter even better. If you want to get involved but you are not sure how, feel free to contact us. We are here to help you with any tools and information you need. We also would like you to share your experience with BMW with us, your fellow members, as well. Come to the club events - let's meet and have fun!

Speaking of fun, weather permitting, Ice Racing is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, March 5, 12, 19, and 26. Since this event depends heavily on the New England weather, I encourage you to keep checking our hotline and web site for last minute updates. By the time you read this, I hope you have participated at our Ice Races, or at least come to one of the events to see and learn more about it. As we had done in previous years, we had tentative schedule for Ice Racing every Sunday from January through March. Since this event rely heavily on the New England weather; I encourage you to keep checking our hotline for the last minute update. If you have any questions about Ice Racing, please contact Stan Jackson Jr. at (603) 744-8559 or jackson@boston-bmwcca.org.

Our Women Only Tech Session will take place in Foreign Motors West in Natick on Saturday, March 11, 2000 from 10 am to 2 pm. In past years, our female members have had the chance to learn first hand on how to check and change the oil, check the battery, tire pressure, and other simple maintenance procedures. One of the things I learned is that depending some cars have the battery located in the trunk, and some have it under the hood. I don't intend to change the battery of my car myself, but in case a jump start is required it can be handy if I can point out the location of my battery to my helper. At the end of the session, the dealer will provide lunch for us. This the time you can get to know other women in the club. I am confident that before you leave for the day, you know that you have made new friends. If you would like to have some maintenance performed on your vehicle during this tech session; please call Lance Mitchell at (508) 655-5350. Please contact Ann-Marie Weber at (508) 949-7145 (eves) or weber@boston-bmwcca.org to register for the event for a count for lunch. I hope to see you there!

On Wednesday, March 15, we will have a Boston Chapter Board Meeting from 7pm to 9pm. The event will be held at HMS Motorsport at 3 First Avenue, Peabody, MA. Food will be provided by the club. If you would like to get involved, this is the right time to come, meet with the staff and talk about your interests.

Bob and Darice Wareham will once again open their house for us on Saturday, March 18, for the annual Spring Wine Tasting from 7 pm to 9 pm. They have been hosting the Spring Wine Tasting for number of years. There will be a wine merchant who will talk to us about different kinds of wine and the art of wine tasting. Reservations are required and space is limited. Please call Bob and Darice at (978) 369-7249 at your earliest convenience. I encourage you to come for this is one of the social events you do not want to miss.

On Wednesday, March 22, Dick's Autobody, Inc. in Somerville will host a collision and autobody repair tech session from 7 pm to 9 pm. They will give a general review regarding the insurance process of filing claims. Be sure not to miss this event, for this will certainly be useful for all of us. This event is very helpful for all of you interested in Driving School. Our Chief Driving Instructor, Steve Fitzgerald, will talk about preparation for driving school. I strongly encourage those who have never been to a Driving School to come and learn. For more information please contact Joe Marko at (781) 631-2269 or at marko@boston-bmwcca.org.

In April, we will have or first Driving School of the year at Lime Rock Park on Wednesday, April 5.

We also have events for almost every weekend! There will be a suspension upgrades tech session on Saturday, April 8, at Eurosport Motorcar in Merrimack, New Hampshire from 10 am to 2 pm. We will have an Undercarriage Tech Session at Jim Albright's Mighty Motors on Saturday, April 15, from 10 am to 2 pm. We have tentative dates for Autocross 1 on April 13, 2000.
