November 1999 Boston Chapter Board Meeting Minutes

Location: Pizzeria Uno, Waltham, MA
Date: November 11, 1999
Present: Fred Beck, Will Farnsworth, Dennis Friedman, Carlos Giron, Dan Mull, Joe Marko, Jr., John Sullivan Jr., Barry Tarr, Ann Marie Weber, Suzin Koehler, Sue Rathbone, Maria Anggraeni, Stan Jackson Sr., Stan Jackson Jr., Justin Hughes, Robert Sweeney, Victor Cruz.

1. Call to Order (Fred Beck):

• Fred called the meeting to order and handed out a copy of the agenda.

2. Secretary's Report (Will Farnsworth):

• The minutes from the last meeting were handed out, and the most important items reviewed briefly, corrections noted. The board accepted the minutes as amended.
• New staff contact list handed out.

3. Special Meeting Report (Fred Beck):

• Bylaw Amendments - It was approved that the board would adopt the National Mission Statement.
• Approved raise to Art Director.
• General Meeting Postcard mailings approved.
• Propose card that is inserted into Bimmer that can be torn out, Suzin will check out cost for card insert.

4. Activities Director's Report (Maria Anggraeni):

• Holiday party is shaping up. The caterer is lined up
• Maria is working with Bob Sweeney for an event in RI - possibly an Autocross or something of the like at Inskip
• O'Fest 2001 - Nick Mancusa will spearhead this, National will run the event with other chapters stepping in to contribute for events. White Mountain chapter will do the safety school. The profits will be split between those chapters that contribute.

5. Legal Report (Trish Farnsworth):

• None.

6. Membership Report (Barry Tarr):

• Currently have 2472 members, 226 Associate for a total of 2698. We are the 4^th largest chapter.

7. Editor's Report (Justin Hughes):

• Justin is shifting the workload off Greg.
• Send all Classifieds to Justin.
• Send list of membership to Justin - Will.

8. Advertising Manager's Report (Suzin Koehler):

• New advertisers are Auto Appraisers and new in January will be Remax, EuroSport Motorcars.
• Suzin is working on a contract for the advertisers to sign, this should be reviewed by the legal adviser.
• Boston Performance Group may still owe for the sponsorship of the drivers school.
• News letter editor conference, Greg and Suzin went - Good involvement in contributing to news letters, suggest that we use a point system to encourage people to write for the Bimmer.

9. Driving School/Club Race Report (Luka Serdar Jr. and Denis Friedman):

• Schools are always a sellout, oversubscribed, need support.
• With a deeper committee we could runn more events.

10. Autocross Report (Fred Beck):

• Excellent year for Autocross. 9 events total, 54% of all cars BMW's, 29% of all drivers it was their first time, will net $6,000.00 for the year.
• It is looking like Rockingham may be available next year

11. Ice Racing Report (Stanley and Stan Jackson.):

• Hope to keep this under control - potential explosion may be seen as like the Autocross - worried about too many cars on ice in one spot at a time.
• We need another propane heater, Stan will approach the board with the dollar figures.
• Proposed Ice Racing School - Given the go ahead by the board.

12. Concours Report (Dan Mull):

• Castle Hill Concours, BMW's involvement may still be intact, sponsorships paid.

13. Librarian (David Christman):

• None.

13. Regalia Report (Victor Cruz):

• Get more popular colors for hats, hats are popular but style is dated.
• Old stuff - either give away at Holiday party or sell off.

15. New Business (Fred Beck):

• Get together with White Mountain chapter for coordination of 2001 events.
• Frequency of meetings is good.
• One Lap of America sponsorship - Find out what this individual wants.

Motion to end meeting - Motion was voted on, vote was taken, motion was passed.
