Behind the WheelLots of Changesby Fred Beck |

The Boston Chapter has had a great couple of months, and quite a few Boston Chapter members have volunteered to help with the events and duties of the club. I would like to warmly welcome Maria Anggraeni as Activities Director, Victor Cruz and Tammy Karsin as Regalia Coordinators, Daanesh Chanduwadia as an Activities Committee member, Fred deNapoli, Justin Hughes, and Rick Shrier as the NEGPC Committee, and a number of people who lent their assistance to the Massachusetts BMW Retailers autocross series. I would also like to officially welcome our BIMMER Art Director, Suzin Koehler, to the BMW Advertising Manager position. Suzin took over as Acting Advertising Manager in June, and liked it so much that she has decided to stay. The Komen Drive for the Cure and the BMW Ultimate Driving Experience were also great successes, in part due to participation by many local BMW CCA members. I had the opportunity to do a 17-second autocross at the Ultimate Drive in a new 328i, what a blast! My personal thanks goes out to all the Chapter members who have stepped forward and become involved in this and other events, it's great to have a number of new people active in the Chapter! Your Boston Chapter Board has also been very active. We now meet every other month (up from quarterly). The Board is continuing to work on Chapter Bylaw revisions, we have a committee looking at the feasibility of holding an O'fest within the next few years, and we continue to develop new events and improve existing ones. Boston Chapter members are welcome to attend the board meetings, and can check the Chapter website or contact me to find out when and where the next meeting is. Approved Board Meeting minutes are published on the web site. There have been a number of changes in the BMW CCA National office. As Phil Marx published in his August Roundel Column, the Executive Director, President, and North Atlantic region Vice President have regrettably all stepped down from office. The Boston Chapter Board has communicated with the National Office regarding the issues involved in this change, and is working to improve communication between the Chapters and the National Office. I am happy to report that New York Chapter Vice President and Autocross Chair Charles Karnati has stepped forward and been appointed as our North Atlantic regional VP until the next elections. Charles has done a great job for the New York Chapter, and I am sure he will serve the BMW CCA well in his new capacity. Please feel free to contact me or any of the Board members with your questions, concerns, or suggestions for the Boston Chapter. Until next time, drive safe, and have fun!
