July/August 1999 BIMMER What Next?

Greetings

The Ultimate Drive for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will be at area BMW dealers in June and July.  For each mile a person drives one of their BMWs, BMW NA will donate $1 to the fund. The goal is $1 million overall. Drivers may still be needed to transport the BMWs to upstate New York the following day. Please check our web site or call the Komen Foundation at (800) 895-6636 for more information and reservations.

The Autocross Series is in full swing, with Autocross 4 in July and Autocross 5 in August. Preregistration is required for this event. Please see the Crushing the Cones column in this issue for further details. It is likely we will be able to hold 8 events at Rockingham Park this year.

The Chassis Dynamometer Tech Session at Boston Performance Group and the Performance Tech Session at Schneller Motoren Technik will be of interest to performance-oriented club members. Whether you track your car or not, be sure to check out this pair of events in July.

Bimmers Across The Border III is our third trip to Mont Tremblant. Again this year this two day driving school, safety school, and international club race is scheduled the same weekend as the Tremblant Blues Festival. When you aren't on the track, you can enjoy the excellent recreation (and shopping) opportunities in the Mont Tremblant area.

The New England Grand Prix Chapter Challenge is coming up in August. The White Mountain Chapter is hell-bent on winning this year, so we need to come to the event prepared to hold them at bay and give a four-peat performance. An "unofficial" practice session or two may thus be in order! See the event announcement in this issue for more details on this increasingly popular event.

The Third Quarter General Meeting will be held at BMW Gallery's Norwood location. The Gallery will be offering a 25% parts discount for Boston Chapter members. Watch the web site for more details!

What Next?

Will this be my last column? Maybe so. Since Mike Webb has left us, I am moving into the President’s position, leaving the Vice President and Activities Director slot open. I will continue to oversee events throughout the year, but can really use some help from our membership in running the events we have on the books.

If you are interested in contributing to the Chapter as our new VP/AD, or as an event Chair, please contact me at fbeck@boston-bmwcca.org.
