Call to Order (Mike Webb):
- Mike called the meeting to order and handed out a copy of the agenda.
2. Secretary's Report (Will Farnsworth):
- The minutes from the last meeting were handed out, and the most important items reviewed
briefly. The board accepted the minutes.
3. Vice President's Report (Fred Beck):
- 1999 Calendar is in order for all of the activities for the year.
- Second Quarter General Meeting
will be Thursday, May 27th.
- Summerfest will be June 19. Mike to
arrange date with Mark and Lori Wagner. We need a coordinator for this event.
4. Treasurer's Report (Bruce Augenstein):
- BIMMER costs are running about $4,000 per month. Printing is about $500, postage is
less.
- Bruce is ready to crank out the 1999 billing. Will Farnsworth gave Bruce a copy of the
revised dollar figures for each advertiser.
- Suzin clarified that HMS' ad is 1/4 page not a 1/3 page ad.
- Fred inquired about the hotline. April 1997 to October 1998 bill was more than one
full year throwing off the figure on an annual basis. Bruce verified that it is running
about $25.00 per month.
5. Membership Report (Barry Tarr):
- The current chapter membership is at 2134 full members, 181 associate members for a
total of 2315.
- Barry has 61 letters going out to new members this month.
6. Legal Update (Fred Beck for Trish Farnsworth):
- Currently, the directors are the only ones who have the power to change the by-laws.
- Mike recommended that they be revised so that they are clearer to understand and read.
- Fred asked that the revised copy be resent to the directors and voting board for review.
- Joe Marko made a motion to amend the by-laws so that the voting board and the directors
has the power to change the by-laws.
- Motion was accepted, a vote was taken and the motion was passed.
7. BIMMER and Web Site Update (Mike Webb for Greg Scott):
- Fred wanted to make sure that event announcement dates are consistent throughout the
magazine.
8. Autocross Report (Fred Beck):
- Fred had 108 registrants at the first Autocross, too many for him to handle. Last year
he averaged 67 - 89 per event.
- It was proposed that the size be limited to 75 cars and that it be done by
pre-registration and by postmark date.
- Fred had 57 BMWs at last Autocross, the most ever.
9. Driving School/Club Race Report (Luka Serdar Jr.):
- Driving School is in good shape for the season. The Safety school needs volunteers. Got
help for Driving Schools due to ad in
the BIMMER.
- Dennis stated that the first school filled up on the first day.
- Luka stated that the new radios have been bought and engraved. They work great!

11. Concours Report (Dan Mull):
- Saturday September 11 is available for the Concours at the Museum of Transportation. The
$150 charge has been waived due to Dan volunteering for German Car Day (3rd Sunday in June).
12. Regalia (Mike Webb/Dan Mull):
- Pictures in BIMMER for regalia - need to make happen in order to sell any of it.
- Need to get announcement in BIMMER for regalia coordinator.
13. New Business (Mike Webb):
- 1. Advertising Manager for BIMMER
- New ad kit developed by Suzin, she will send out by request.
- Who to follow up on kits once sent out
- Need to develop pricing for color option for advertisers.
- Need to ask Schneller and BMW Dealers Group if want color.
- Bruce to collect revenue from advertisers.
- 2. Departure Plan for Mike/Transition Fred to Acting President. Mike is leaving for the
west coast. Fred will be acting President until voted in by members. It was asked that the
Directors help chip in during the transition.
- 3. Stated purpose of club. The stated purpose of the club is; to promote driving,
enthusiasm (doesn't specifically state BMWs). In the Roundel on the membership page
it details the definition of the club.
- 4. Chapter by-laws review. A motion was made to have all past presidents of the Boston
Chapter maintained as a free Boston chapter member, as long as they are a member of the
national chapter. Motion was accepted, a vote was taken and the motion was passed.
- 5. Chapter Operations Manual draft for review. Mike created a template for the
Operations Manual . It is meant to be viewed as a guide for "who does what", to
include description of positions, events, what people who run club do. Steve Goldstein
will do guide for what it takes to do an event.
These minutes were approved at the Boston Chapter board meeting held June 21, 1999.
Special Vote
The motion to elect Fred Beck as President from Vice President and Activities Director
has been finalized.
As of Wednesday, June 2, 1999, all of the votes were in from the Boston Chapter Board.
It was unanimously voted that Fred Beck be
elected to President of the Boston Chapter BMW CCA and assume this role due to Mike Webb's departure.
