There are a number of great Boston Chapter events coming up this month. First-off, with a cold start to the New Year, the opportunity for a great Ice Time Trial season has arrived! By the time you read this, we will hopefully have held our first Ice Race of the season. As mentioned last month, these events are tentatively scheduled for every Sunday in February and March, with final confirmation being obtained through the Boston Chapter Hotline, (781) 894-8766. The Parker Spooner Memorial Ice Time Trial promises to be a great event, and will be held Saturday February 14th, ice and weather permitting. If you only come to one event in the series, this should be the one! Following the Parker Spooner Memorial, on Thursday February 18th, our Car Audio Tech Session will be held at Rich's CarTunes in Watertown, Mass. from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. This event will be of interest to anyone who has even turned on their car stereo! Just as BMWs are quality automobiles, it really pays to have a quality audio system for your driving pleasure. Rich's CarTunes teams up with a/d/s/ to present a comprehensive discussion on performance car audio systems, a/d/s/ products, projects in progress at Rich's shop-- including his BMW 750iL and '99 328i projects--and basic upgrades to factory audio to highly customized systems. Rumor has it that Rich throws a great party, so come on by and check this one out! After chilling out on the ice, come warm up at our First Quarter General Meeting, to be held Wednesday, February 24 from 7-9pm. at Wagner BMW in Boylston. Wagner BMW is a new location for this event, and the theme of the meeting is appropriately New Members Night. Chapter officers and staff will spin tall tales of previous events, and describe the many exciting chapter events planned for this year. Learn about our chapter tech session series, driving schools, autocross, rallies, concours, picnics, wine tastings and more. All this, plus a chance to meet and mingle with new and veteran club members alike will make this a great event. We encourage members who have never been to events, as well as new members, to come and join us! I am planning to lead a Microbrewery Tour somewhere T-accessible in Boston in early March, but as of this writing do not have firm plans for this. Thus, it is likely to be a spur-of-the-moment event. The Chapter Hotline and Web Page will be updated as plans are firmed up. Those interested in joining a number of club members for an excellent microbrewery tour and tasting are encouraged to contact me directly at fbeck@boston-bmwcca.org. [Late breaking news: the Microbrewery Tour is confirmed for Saturday, March 13, at Boston Beer Works, near Fenway Park. - Webmaster] Moving on to March, Boston Chapter Board member Ann Marie Weber will be leading the Women Only Tech Session on Saturday March 27 at Foreign Motors West in Natick. The tech session will cover basic maintenance, and provide special parts discounts, lunch, and new BMW test drives. This event has been very popular in past years, so its not too early to RSVP to Ann Marie right now! Finally, there is an opportunity for one or more club members to chair an event. We have a tech session planned (likely this Spring) at Foreign Motors West that will include a presentation on a stone chip protection service that effectively guards a cars finish from paint chips. You may have seen this system on new Porsches, and FMW is now licensed to install the system on BMWs. Your job as chair will be easy, since we have the topic, speaker, and location already set. You will held coordinate the event, with direction from myself as needed. This is a great way to get involved, and have a fun time doing so! Contact me with your interest. Operators are standing by!
