January 1999 BIMMER Keys In Hand

Get Your Dance Cards Out!

by Fred Beck

Greetings and Happy New Year to everyone! Your activities director has been busy over the Holidays, and as a result we are starting the season with 48 Boston Chapter events listed on the 1999 Ultimate Calendar! And this is not all, as we have a number of new events in planning for this year!

You may notice that the new title for this column is Keys in Hand. This is your cue that when you are wanting to get out and enjoy your BMW and the camaraderie of the BMW CCA, you can turn to this column for breaking news on new and upcoming Boston Chapter events.

Speaking of events, the Ice Racing series kicks off this month, ice and weather conditions permitting. The first event is scheduled for Sunday, January 17th.

Because weather and ice conditions can and do change rapidly, we will be relying on members to check the Chapter Hotline, (781) 894-8766, for the latest conditions before heading up to Newfound Lake. The hotline will be updated every Wednesday during the ice time trial season, and updated every Saturday at noon with the final GO/NO GO message. The chapter website will also be updated on an as-needed basis.

In addition, there is an e-mail mailing list which will be used to disseminate late-breaking information to participants. [Please see the Boston Chapter Bulletin for details. -Webmaster]

The Parker Spooner Memorial ice time trial will be held February 14. We hope that by holding it on a 3-day weekend, people from the entire Northeast Region will be able to make the trip out. Lodging information will be made available for those who are traveling from afar to make the event.

Also in February, on Thursday the 18th, Rich's CarToons will host the a/d/s/ Car Audio Tech Session. This should be a great event, so mark you calendars now! I am planning to host a Brewery Tour in early March, and welcome help from Club members in planning this event.

I encourage all of you to contact me with your ideas for new events, and to volunteer to chair or assist in running one of our many awesome events. I am looking forward to a great season, filled with excellent and fun events. See you on the ice!

Fred
