Hi everyone,

I just moved down here from Canada, and joined the club last week. I was wondering if you offered a winter driving school, and if I could help out with that - or if winter was basically a non-issue for most drivers down here?

First, welcome to Boston!

There is an active "Ice Racing" program, which is basically an autocross on ice. The Stan Jackson's run it (Sr and Jr) and I'm sure they would welcome help. The number of events depends upon the lake ice in NH.

Boston Chapter doesn't offer a winter driving school, but the North Atlantic Audi Club does. I believe they are very popular and sell out. If you have winter driving school instructing experience, I'd contact them to see if they are looking for more instructors. I'm sure they would welcome other volunteers.

Thanks for the welcome

In Montreal, we ice race every Feb. when the Lachine Canal freezes over. It's a lot of fun if you can avoid the ice-colored buoys that also freeze at the surface. We make sure that the track is well defined so that no one strays too close to them. Oh, and we try to keep people from parking more than two cars near each other on the ice too.

Thanks for the information about these events, I appreciate it.

And, in a lovely bit of irony, you could join us for Bimmers Across the Border X (ten) -- our driving school at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant in your old backyard. It is sure to be a great event this year. Check out the event description on our site and sign up!

At least you'll know the route up to Montreal!
