What can I do about the radio display on my '96 328 convert. I cant see it unless I shine a light on it..Cal

I'm not sure what the 3 series radio display looks like, but if it is anything like the 5 series there are small lights that provide backlighting so the display can be read. I had to replace a few of my lights 2 years ago. They are soldered on the PC board inside the MIDI (radio display as most call it).
