The club is looking to improve these forms. If you have specific suggestions or comments, post them here or, if you prefer, send them to me (Dan Chadwick) via these the website form-based e-mail: http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/FormEmail.aspx?ID=DanChadwickI'll start it off by repeating a suggestion from our club president, John Oglesby, that there be different questions for novice / less-experienced drivers from those for advanced / more experienced drivers, either in the form of different forms or different questions on the form.
I'm also quite keen to hear comments about the form where the student evaluates the instructor. Comments given right away will be considered for the May driving event; subsequent comments will be considered for events after that (e.g. July).

| I have a couple of suggestions about the forms. I like that there are open-ended questions but I think the addition of some opportunities to suggest ratings on "key performance indicators" would be helpful. In other words, determine what the primary elements of any successful driving school are - i.e., amount of track time, quality of class sessions, the track itself, quality of instructor, perceived value for the money, etc. Then allow students to assign a 1-5 rating and add any additional comments on the bottom about their ratings. This will provide the club with quantitative data that can be tracked over time (no pun intended..). Also, the first question on the form should be "what run group were you in today?" That way the club could also track the data according to driver experience level which is important because the student's wants and expectations will evolve somewhat over time.

| Thanks for the suggestions. They were helpful. The form has been extensively revised and will be "beta tested" at the May event. Hopefully you'll be there. If not, email me at dan underscrore chadwick at gmmail dotterooni com and I'll e-mail the forms to you to see if you like them. The only question that we didn't exactly have that you suggested was feedback on the track itself. We did ask if you wanted more events/year at this track, so maybe that gets at the same thing. There isn't too much we can do the change the track, other than go or not go. I wish I could click my heels and, say, add garages to Mt Tremblant! Oh, and I'd like the Canadian dollar exchange rate to be rolled back about 10 years.

| Dan - there is one other thing that I was thinking of in regards to the form, specifically the feedback on the instructors. It's kind of a no-brainer so you probably already have it in place but I thought I'd mention it anyways. It would be useful to directly link the instructor feedback process with the instructor training/development process. I'm assuming that there are specific instructor competencies that are part of the assessment and development process for people who training to become instructors for the Boston Chapter, i.e. communicating clearly, establishing rapport with the student, concern for the development of others, etc. Whatever the specific competencies are, there should be questions on the feedback form that will allow the instructors (and the chief instructor) to get feedback on how well they are performing in regards to each of the specific competencies. This will ensure that the feedback is of the most use to the instructors and the Chapter.
