I've heard that the normal April Glen date that this chapter does was dropped for 2008?  Is this true and if so are we going to replace it with another venue?

Thanks

Rob-

Hi Rob,

I moved your topic to the Boston Chapter Events forum. Hope you don't mind as it doesn't seem to relate to improving our track events.

Last year we had an early Glen event scheduled, but it was snowed out. Our event schedule for 2008 isn't finalized yet, but I don't expect us to try this event again this year. It seemed like it was too early to get good attendance and the chance of snow is too high.

Best,

Dan

Not at all, but having more track time in my mind improves the events

Will there be another event later in the season to "make up" for it?  If not I understand, just trying to finalize my own track schedule.

Well, if you want track time, don't forget about OFest this year.  You can sign up for 1 through 5 days of driving schools at Watkins Glen.  Combine that with all the other OFest activities and it should be lots of fun.  I'll announce the OFest web site as soon as I'm told to.   Ofest: Sept 24 - 28, 2008.

Hi Jim,

I plan to attend O'fest this year and run all 5 days like this past sept (already have the B&B reserved ).  What is the likelyhood of it being a complete zoo?  Will there be enough room for trailers etc?  I know the garage is taken for vendors and the racers will be in the lower paddock like last year.

Just to be clear. Last year's event at WGI in April was an extra event we had planned because the track offered us the date. It would have been the first time we ever did an April event at WGI. However, a freak snow storm at the track forced them to cancel the event.

This year, we had the option to get a similar date again, but in light of last year's snow storm and the poor attendance we would have had at that event (the chapter would have lost money had the event actually occurred) we decided to not pursue it this year.

So, we don't anticipate any "make up" event. If you want more track time and more events then attendance has to go up. Get out there and convince your fellow driving enthusiasts to come to the track!
